ランドスケープデザイン特論（Theory of Landscape Design）[5208]

＜授業のねらい及び具体的な到達目標＞

Christopher Alexanderは、「A Pattern Language」の中で、快適で魅力的な建築や都市空間は、一定の普遍的な要素（pattern）によって織り成された言語（language）のようなものであると説いた。Alexanderは、全部で253のpatternを挙げているが、本授業では、これらの中からランドスケープに関連する代表的なpatternをとり上げ、原著を読み解き、理解を深める。なお、最終レポートでは、学生自らが254番目のpatternを見つけ出し、解説することが求められる。
Christopher Alexander described in his “A Pattern Language” various methods to construct practical, safe, and attractive designs at every scale, from regions down to buildings and furniture. He called these methods patterns and explained that they were like a kind of language, each pattern forming a word or a thought of a true language.
Alexander introduced 253 patterns in his book, and students in this class are required to read in English and understand patterns which are closely related to landscape design. Students are also required in their final report to describe their own 254th pattern that they have found in their surroundings.
