＜授業のねらい及び具体的な達成目標＞

The purpose of this course is two fold:
1. To encourage the students' critical thinking and develop their awareness and understanding of other cultures in our increasingly globalized society.
2. By utilizing an integrated skills approach, improve the students' L2 skills. The main focus wil be on listening and speaking tasks, supported by reading comprehensions and vocabulary building exercises. The importance of the intenet in global communication has meant that the ability to write clearly and concisely in English has taken on added significance. As such writing skills will also be a feature of the course. A number of different genres will be examined and students will be encouraged to produce essays in all three major styles; narrative, descriptive and expository.

＜授業計画及び準備学習＞

To successfully complete this course 100 % participation in class is essential. This means you must be an active member of the class. Students must concentrate fully on all the tasks assigned. Making mistakes is all part of the language learning process. Come to class with a positive attitude, don't be afraid of making errors and your English skills will improve.

＜成績評価方法及び水準＞

This is no exam for this course. Each student is continually assessed over the four days of the intensive program.
