△Writing in English Basic II[5L07]

＜授業のねらい＞

本科目では、英語の基礎的なライティング技術を習得する。想定されるコンテクスト（場面）としては、学会発表の応募のためのアブストラクト執筆や論文執筆などのアカデミックな場面およびプロジェクトの企画書作成などのビジネスコミュニケーションの場面の２種類があり、そのどちらも扱っていく。
Students will practice basic writing skills in English for academic, project-oriented, and professional communication purposes. Assignments will include structural organization (sentences, paragraphs, essays) and specific forms of writing (essay, summary, abstract, paraphrasing, and a long report).

＜受講にあたっての前提条件＞

1、2年生の必修英語科目で学習した内容（特にBasic Academic English I およびII）およびWriting in English Basic Iで学習した内容が修得できていること。指定された課題をこなせる英語力があること。
Students should have basic communication skills in English. Completion of WIEB I in the first semester is helpful but not necessary. Classes will be conducted in English and assignments will be explained in English.

＜具体的な到達目標＞

初級程度の英語（語彙・構文）で、自分が興味を持っている専門的な話題について1000 words程度のレポートが書けること。具体的には英語の「段落の基本的な構成」「小論文の基本的な構成」を理解し、「説明・解説」「説得」「比較」「分類などを述べる文章が書けるようになること。また、ビジネスコミュニケーションの場面についても、上記内容と同じくらいの難易度の課題を行う。
Students will learn how to compose and write a report or essay of up to 1,000 words on a topic related to the students’ interest and/or research. Weekly homework assignments will include paragraph writing and essays that describe a process, comparison, narrative, opinion, and argument. At the end of the course, students should be able to write in English that is suitable for each of these modes.
