<授業のねらい>
学会発表などのアカデミックな場面(およびビジネスコミュニケーションの場面)で、英語でプレゼンテーションを行う技術を身につける。
The aim of this class is to acquire presentation skills for academic and professional purposes. Skill areas will focus on speech, body language (gestures, posture, eye contact, voice projection), visual organization, and writing. Presentation formats will include poster boards and Power Point presentations. The goal is to learn effective communication techniques and to develop confidence for making a basic presentation.

<受講にあたっての前提条件>
½年次の必修英語科目(Basic English I/II, Basic Communication I/II, Basic Academic English I/II)で学んだ内容を理解していること。指定された課題をこなせる英語力があること。
Students should have completed basic English courses. Class activities will include pair-work and small group speaking exercises and giving solo presentations in English.

<具体的な到達目標>
ところどころ意思疎通に苦労しながらも、学外で専門分野について、10-20分程度の発表ができる。
Students will learn how to make basic presentations on a range of topics by using appropriate speech, body language, and easy-to-grasp visuals to support the message. Presentations will be between 10-20 minutes.

<授業計画及び準備学習>
Class 1: Introductions, textbook preview
Class 2: Speaking in front of an audience, using gestures
Class 3: Preparing visuals for a presentation
Class 4: Presentation 1 – introduce a city
Class 5: Describing physical positions and layout
Class 6: Presentation 2 – introduce 4 aspects about your research project
Class 7: Describing shapes and forms
Class 8: Presentation 3 – describe a layout and the reasons for it
Class 9: Describing processes
Class 10: Ordering an action from start to finish
Class 11: Presentation 4 – explain a process
Class 12: Charts and graphs
Class 13: Comparative speech
Class 14: Presentation 5 – final presentation on a topic of your choice

<成績評価方法>
Evaluation will be based on assignment completion, participation in class activities, and effectiveness of presentations.

<参考書>
Students should bring a dictionary to class.

Good presentation skills involve more than just speaking – they also include well-organized visuals, appropriate body language, and confidence. We will work on these three areas while developing our speech techniques to make our presentations more effective.
