＜授業のねらい＞

学会発表などのアカデミックな場面（およびビジネスコミュニケーションの場面）で、英語でプレゼンテーションを行う技術を身につける。
The aim of this class is to acquire presentation skills for academic and professional purposes. Skill areas will focus on speech, body language (gestures, posture, eye contact, voice projection), visual organization and writing. Presentation formats will include Power Point presentations, handouts and a poster session. The goal is to have students develop their communication techniques and confidence for making a basic presentation.

＜受講にあたっての前提条件＞

½年次の必修英語科目（Basic English I/II, Basic Communication I/II, Basic Academic English I/II）で学んだ内容を理解していること。指定された課題をこなせる英語力があること。
Students should have completed basic English courses. Class activities will include speaking exercises with a partner or in a group and giving solo presentations in English.

＜具体的な到達目標＞

ところどころ意思疎通に苦労しながらも、学外で専門分野について、10-20分程度の発表ができる。
Students will be able to make basic presentations on a range of topics using appropriate speech, conscientious body language and easy-to-grasp visuals that support the content of the presentation. Students will give a presentation on a topic in their field of study for 10-20 minutes.

5: Presentation 2 – describing a trend
6: Preparing a handout print, explaining a cultural event
7: Categorizing the aspects of a cultural event
8: Presentation 3 – cultural event
9: Cause and effect
10: Narrating a cause and effect change
11: Presentation 4 – demonstrating cause and effect
12: Poster session review
13: Asking the presenter questions
14: Presentation 5 - poster session

＜成績評価方法＞

Evaluation will be based on completion of the assignments, participation in class activities and organization of presentations.

＜教科書＞

No textbook is required for the 2nd semester. Prints will be distributed in class.

＜参考書＞

Students should bring a dictionary to class.
