△Presentation in English Advanced II[5G17]

＜授業のねらい＞

学会発表などのアカデミックな場面（およびビジネスコミュニケーションの場面）で、英語でプレゼンテーションを行う技術を身につける。
This class continues from the 1st semester. Students will continue developing their presentational skills in speech, writing, visual organization and body language (posture, gestures, voice, eye contact). Subject matter will include explaining a process, diagrammatic information, technology, an opinion, and a topic of the student’s choice. Presentation media will be poster boards and Power point slides. The goal is to have students acquire the language, techniques and confidence for making basic presentations.

＜受講にあたっての前提条件＞

½年次の必修英語科目（Basic English I/II, Basic Communication I/II, Basic Academic English I/II）で学んだ内容を理解していること。指定された課題をこなせる英語力があること。
Students should be prepared to communicate in English and work with a partner or in a group using English.

＜具体的な到達目標＞

ところどころ意思疎通に苦労しながらも、学外で専門分野について、10-20分程度の発表ができる。
Students will be able to make basic presentations on a variety of topics through the use of appropriate spoken and written language, conscientious body language and easy-to-grasp visuals that support the presentation. They will be able to make a presentation on a topic in their field of study for 10-20 minutes.

Class 2: Describing a process
Class 3: Presentation 1– demonstrating a step-by-step process
Class 4: Different types of information visuals
Class 5: Preparing charts and diagrams
Class 6: Presentation 2 – explain a chart or graph
Class 7: Reading and writing: robots
Class 8: Explaining technology
Class 9: Presentation 3 – explain a robot’s functions
Class 10: Opinion and point of view
Class 11: Preparing evidence
Class 12: Presentation 4 – present a point of view
Class 13: Asking the presenter questions
Class 14: Presentation 5 – topic in student’s major

＜成績評価方法＞

Grades will be based on completion of assignments, participation in class activities, organization of presentations (spoken and visual), and one written report.

Speaking of Speech, New Edition (Macmillan) (same textbook used in the 1st semester)

＜参考書＞

Students should bring a dictionary to class.
