<授業のねらい>
This course is a continuation of Reading Skills in English 1A. The course will continue to focus on building comprehension skills through “intensive reading” and analysis of short passages of text from the textbook. In addition to building reading fluency and comprehension, students will gain even more practice inferring information from the text and analyzing the information critically. "Extensive reading" and vocabulary self study skills will be highlighted.

<受講にあたっての前提条件>
Students who have successfully completed high school level English classes.

<具体的な到達目標>
As in the first term, students will practice reading skills such as identifying the main topic of a text, understanding the gist of the text, making inferences about the writer's thoughts, and finding detailed points relevant to the writer’s topic. Scanning and skimming will continue to be practiced with the goal of increasing reading fluency. Vocabulary building is an important part of this course.
