＜授業のねらい及び具体的な達成目標＞

The aim of this course is to promote a better understanding within the students of the relationship between technology and the human condition.

＜授業計画及び準備学習＞

In this class we'll be looking at various technologies created by humans over the centuries and the impact these technologies have had on the development of the human race. We'll start with ancient technology and move through the different ages as we progress through the course. Students are expected to participate in discussions and class activities.

General Timeline
The Ancient World (before 3500 B.C.E)
The Metal Age (3500 B.C.E to 1 C.E)
The Age of Discovery (1 C.E. to 1799)
The Age of Electricity and Communication (1799 to 1887)
The Age of the Atom (1887 to present)

＜成績評価方法及び水準＞

Evaluation will be based on participation, class work, presentations and writing assignments.
