○Reading Skills in English IB[3340]

＜授業のねらい及び具体的な達成目標＞

The aim of this course is to improve the students, abilities to engage textual material that is written in English. The focus will be on developing the students, aptitudes in contemplating texts so that they will be better prepared to form opinions, arguments and conclusions based on the content presented in the texts. To achieve these goals, attention will be given to nurturing the students' abilities to infer meanings from texts and to utilize critical thinking techniques in the analysis process. Students will be expected to display their skills in the above techniques in English, both orally and in written form.

＜授業計画及び準備学習＞

教科書を中心に授業を進める。時にDVDなどで時事関連の映像なども使って理解を深める。
更に、自分の意見を英語で述べる練習も取り入れて、ニュース記事に関するインプットとアウトプットの両方を行っていく。

＜成績評価方法及び水準＞

授業での学習態度と課題（ほぼ毎回小レポートを提出）を50％、定期試験の結果を50％として評価し、総合して60点以上を合格とする。出席率が3分の2に満たない場合は、基本的に単位は与えない。
