○Reading Skills in English IB[3339]

＜授業のねらい及び具体的な達成目標＞

This course is a continuation of Reading Skills in English 1A. The course will continue to focus on building comprehension skills through “intensive reading” and analysis of short passages of text from the textbook. In addition to building reading fluency and comprehension, students will gain practice inferring information from the text and analyzing the information critically. "Extensive reading" and vocabulary self study skills will be an important part of the course.

＜授業計画及び準備学習＞

Short passages from the textbook and other handouts will be read and discussed in small groups and as a class. Students will be asked to prepare short presentations on topics occurring in the text and will be encouraged to offer their thoughts on the topics being discussed. Students will be expected to complete reading logs on a regular basis.

＜成績評価方法及び水準＞

Grading will be based on three main elements: 1) participation/attendance/attitude; 2) quizzes/homework tasks/reading logs; and 3) one end-of-term test

Douglas, N. (2009) Reading Explorer 1. Heinle Cengage Learning.

Please obtain one book from the Oxford Bookworms Graded Reader Series. The book you choose must be different from the one you bought in the first term and be at the same level or higher.
