△Reading Skills in English IIB[3385]

＜授業のねらい及び具体的な達成目標＞

Continuing on from Reading Skills in English IIA, this course will further develop the students’ abilities to engage cultural texts, consider them academically, and respond clearly and objectively.

＜授業計画及び準備学習＞

This class will focus on developing the variety of skills needed to enable the student to become an autonomous and confident reader of English language material.

Weeks 1 through 4 will be introducing relevant theories for engaging cultural texts.
Weeks 5 through 10 will be analysis and discussion of written texts.
Weeks 11 and 12 will be analysis and discussion of non-written texts.
Weeks 13 through 15 will be analysis and discussion of ideologies.

There will be short in class readings and readings assigned for homework. The students will be required to demonstrate their understanding of texts in both oral and written form.

＜成績評価方法及び水準＞

Grades will be based on homework, short papers, quizzes, tests and class participation.

No text is required for this course.

＜オフィスアワー＞

Shinjuku Campus: Wednesdays & Thursdays lunch time and by appointment.
