＜授業のねらい及び具体的な達成目標＞

The goal of this course is to build students’ ability to successfully interpret information found in English media (newspaper, internet, radio, television). Students’ will study and discuss typical themes and discourse patterns in the media, making note of useful grammar and vocabulary items.

＜授業計画＞

The course will be divided into four main units, each a quarter of a semester long: 1) Newspapers; 2) The Internet; 3) Radio; and 4) Television. Each class will examine one or more texts relevant to the current unit and involve reading and listening as well as class discussion and discussion in small groups. More details will be given on the first day of class.

＜成績評価方法及び水準＞

Grading will be based on three main elements: 1) participation/attendance/attitude; 2) a series of small projects; and 3) two end-of-term tests (or larger projects).
