○化学英語Ｉ（English for Chemists I）[5212]

＜授業のねらい及び具体的な達成目標＞

　英語の化学論文を読み書きするための基礎を学習する。以下に具体的な達成目標を示す。
(1) 科学の分野で英語を使うための心構えを身につける。(2) 「数，寸法，数式，単位，実験器具，図表，元素と無機・有機化合物の名称，色，形」などの基本的な表現方法を修得する。

1. Introduction of course requirements and materials. Discussion of reference materials.
2. Style of research papers; use of symbols abbreviations footnotes and references.
3. [Integers][Simple units] (Exercise 1 2)
4. [Fractions and decimal numbers][Equations] (Exercise 3 4)
5. [Everyday numbers][Modifying numbers] (Exercise 5 6)
6. [Ordinal numbers][Number affixes] (Exercise 7 8)
7. [Unit prefixes][Complex equations] (Exercise 9 10)
8. [Laboratory equipment][Tables and graphs] (Exercise 11 12)
9. [Word stress differences][Word endings and stress 1] (Exercise 13 14)
10. [Word endings and stress 2][Element names] (Exercise 15 16)
11. [Inorganic compound names][Organic compound names] (Exercise 17 18)
12. [Colors][Shapes and forms] (Exercise 19 20)
13. Discussion of frequent errors.
14. Periodic examination.

＜成績評価方法及び水準＞

　定期試験の成績（70％）と授業中に課す演習課題に対する取り組み・提出状況（30％）を総合的に評価し，60点以上の者に単位を認める。4回以上欠席（演習課題の未提出を含む）の場合，未履修扱いとする。
