- <授業のねらい及び具体的な達成目標>
- The aim of this course is to improve the students’ abilities to engage textual material that is written in English. The focus will be on developing the students’ aptitudes in contemplating texts so that they will be better prepared to form opinions, arguments and conclusions based on the content presented in the texts. To achieve these goals, attention will be given to nurturing the students’ abilities to infer meanings from texts and to utilize critical thinking techniques in the analysis process. Students will be expected to display their skills in the above techniques in English, both orally and in written form.
- <授業計画>
- This class is a combination of 4 aspects of reading: Reading for pleasure, reading skills, thinking skills, and reading faster. Each week students will work on ALL of these skills. The second half of the semester will focus on critical thinking and forming opinions.
