○Reading Skills in English IB[3434]

＜授業のねらい及び具体的な達成目標＞

The aim of this course is to improve the students’ abilities to engage textual material that is written in English. The focus will be on developing the students’ aptitudes in contemplating texts so that they will be better prepared to form opinions, arguments and conclusions based on the content presented in the texts. To achieve these goals, attention will be given to nurturing the students’ abilities to infer meanings from texts and to utilize critical thinking techniques in the analysis process. Students will be expected to display their skills in the above techniques in English, both orally and in written form.

＜授業計画＞

演習をとおして、英文読解に必要なスキルを学んでいく。それと同時に、文章の内容についての英語による質疑応答、意見交換、発表等のスキルアップも図っていく。

＜成績評価方法及び水準＞

中間試験と期末試験の平均点が60点以上で、かつ授業内の演習に積極的に参加し、宿題をきちんとこなしている者を合格とする。
