○ライティングＩＩ（English Writing II）[5420]

＜授業のねらい及び具体的な達成目標＞

The aim of this course is to improve the students’ abilities to produce written materials utilizing English writing structures. The students will begin by working on paragraph structure: topic sentence, supporting ideas, and concluding sentence, and progress to essay writing: introduction, body, and conclusion. Various writing styles will also be given attention including: descriptive writing, argumentative writing, expository writing, business letters, and proposals. Reading materials will be used to model these writing structures and to build and reinforce vocabulary. The medium of instruction will be English so as to assist in building the students’ oral and aural abilities.

＜授業計画＞

前期は、自己紹介・日記・手紙など、日常的な内容の作文練習を通じて、基礎的な文法事項・構文法の定着をはかる。毎回、各ユニット付属の課題を提出してもらう。後期は引き続きテキストを進めながら、より発展的な内容を効果的に表現できるよう練習する。最終的にパラグラフの構成法を学び、実際に300〜500語程度のエッセイを書いて提出してもらう。

＜成績評価方法及び水準＞

テキストの演習と課題が50パーセント、定期試験（レポート）が50パーセント。総合して60点以上を合格とする。教科書を購入しないと定期試験を受ける権利を失うことがある。
