<授業のねらい及び具体的な達成目標>

The purpose of this course is to improve upon students' prior knowledge of English. Group projects are designed to support all lessons and students will practice all aspects of English communication particularly listening and speaking.

<授業計画>
First Term:

1. Introductionscourse information and explanation of projects requirements.
2. Vocabulary introduction. Timeline Activity.
3. Conversation practice for requesting declining formal versus informal language.
4. Introduction to Project One. Collage Overview.
5. Project One continued.
6. Project One mini-presentations by group.
7. Vocabulary practice. Activity for listening comprehension.
8. Correcting oneself. Introduction to situational English.
9. Introduction to Project Two. Library and Internet research overview.
10. Project Two continued.
11. Project Two completed group presentations begin.
12. Final group presentation finish. Review for end-of-term exam.
13. End-of-term Exam.

Second Term:

14. Review and conversation.
15. Situational English: Travel Abroad
16. Travel Abroad continued. Project Three Overview.
17. World English and group research project chosen.
18. Project Three continued.
19. Project Three finished. Mini-presentations for all groups. Question and Answer sessions.
20. Vocabulary practice. Situational English for giving opinions and defending positions.
21. Project Four Overview. Groups and topics chosen for personalized survey project.
22. Survey projects finished checked for errors copied and practiced for session 23.
23. Group surveys of Project Four. Answers tallied. Begin data result paper.
24. Poster session with presentation of results of Project Four.
25. Finish poster session and presentations. Review for final exam.
26. Final Exam

<成績評価方法及び水準>
Attendance and participation are vital. Grades will be based on students' performance in group activities and projects and exams.

<教科書>
Material will be mostly provided by the instructor although students will be required to occasionally prepare and bring materials from home to class. There is no textbook for this class but students MUST bring dictionaries and notebooks for all classes.

<参考書>
No text required.

<オフィスアワー>
Mondays 3rd and 4th periods.
