○英文ライティングＢ（English Writing B）[5126]

＜授業のねらい及び具体的な達成目標＞

The aim of this course is to improve the students’ abilities to produce written materials utilizing English writing structures. The students will begin by working on paragraph structure: topic sentence, supporting ideas, and concluding sentence, and progress to essay writing: introduction, body, and conclusion. Various writing styles will also be given attention including: descriptive writing, argumentative writing, expository writing, business letters, and proposals. Reading materials will be used to model these writing structures and to build and reinforce vocabulary. The medium of instruction will be English so as to assist in building the students’ oral and aural abilities.

英語で文章を書くためには、英語の語彙や文法を覚えるだけでは十分ではありません。このコースでは、さらに一歩進んで英語の論理構成を学びます。

＜授業計画＞

一定量の英文を書く練習を前期にしているので、後期は英語特有のパラグラフ構成やそれを支える表現を学びます。与えられた日本語を英語に直すことから始めますが、最終的にはトピックに対して自分の意見を英語で書く練習をします。ライティング中心の授業ですが、読む、聞く、話す練習も行います。

＜成績評価方法及び水準＞

定期試験(50%)と授業中の演習(50%)を総合し、60点以上を合格点とします。
