○Reading Skills in English IB[3338]

＜授業のねらい及び具体的な達成目標＞

The aim of this course is to improve the students’ abilities to engage textual material that is written in English. The focus will be on developing the students’ aptitudes in contemplating texts so that they will be better prepared to form opinions, arguments and conclusions based on the content presented in the texts. To achieve these goals, attention will be given to nurturing the students’ abilities to infer meanings from texts and to utilize critical thinking techniques in the analysis process. Students will be expected to display their skills in the above techniques in English, both orally and in written form.

＜授業計画＞

要点を読み取る以外に熟読、内容分析、論点の発見及び意見の形成という作業に入る。「英語」を読むことから、英語で書かれた「内容」を読むことに意識をおいた読みを試みる。
教科書の素材をもとに英語による口頭での質疑、意見の発表等のスキルアップも図っていく。

＜成績評価方法及び水準＞

中間試験と期末試験の平均点が60点以上で、かつ授業内での演習を十分こなしている者を合格とする。
