○Reading Skills in English IA[3335]

＜授業のねらい及び具体的な達成目標＞

The aim of this course is to improve the students’ general reading abilities in English. The focus will be on developing basic comprehension skills: identifying topics, supporting ideas and conclusions. In order to achieve this, the structural formations of short readings will be analyzed. Attention will be given to enhancing the students’ scanning techniques to identify key points and to increasing the students’ reading speeds. Students will be expected to display their skills in the above techniques in English, both orally and in written form.

＜授業計画＞

要点を読みとることに重点を置いた演習を行う。そうしながら、内容についてさまざま考察を試みる。教科書の素材をもとに英語による口頭での質疑、意見の発表等のスキルアップも図っていく。

＜成績評価方法及び水準＞

中間試験と期末試験の試験の平均点が60点以上で、かつ授業内での演習を十分こなしている者を合格とする。
