○Introduction to Communicative English I[2123]

＜授業のねらい及び具体的な達成目標＞

The aim of this course is to improve the students’ general knowledge and abilities to use English across the four skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. While there will be some reading (primarily for modeling language patterns and for establishing the class’s general knowledge of a topic that will serve as discussion content) and writing (to reinforce grammatical formations and vocabulary), “Introduction to Communicative English I” will focus on developing the students’ oral/aural skills in the following areas: greetings and introductions, initial conversations, discerning basic information in everyday settings/survival English (dining, shopping, hotels, transportation settings, directions etc.).

＜授業計画＞

　まず最初の３週間は、プリント教材を使って、自己紹介や大学生としての必要事項を英語で学ぶ。その後、“Things to Learn”“Glossary Qiuz”“Words and Phrases to Study”、リスニングに相当する“Blanks to Fill in”や“Judgements to Make”などの順序で、各レッスンを学習する。テキストの範囲は、“Travel Guide for the 2002 World Cup”から“Hurricane Michelle”までとする。なお前期は三回教場試験を実施する。

＜成績評価方法及び水準＞

　このクラスは、教場で行われる小テスト６０パーセント、平常点４０パーセントを基準として、成績評価をする。平常点は、予習、発表、クラスにおけるparticipation、課題提出によって判断する。
