○Basic Reading Skills I[5419]

＜授業のねらい及び具体的な達成目標＞

The aim of this course is to improve the students’ general reading abilities in English. The focus will be on developing basic comprehension skills: identifying topics, supporting ideas and conclusions. In order to achieve this, the structural formations of short readings will be analyzed. Attention will be given to enhancing the students’ scanning techniques to identify key points and to increasing the students’ reading speeds. Students will be expected to display their skills in the above techniques in English, both orally and in written form.

＜成績評価方法及び水準＞

授業中の小テストの結果（10回問を予定）を20％、期末試験を80％の比重で配点し、総合評価が60点以上を合格点とする。

英和辞書を持参すること。授業には必ず予習をして臨む。英文の全訳は不要である。なお，授業で配布するハンドアウトは，期末試験の範囲に加えるので注意。
