○Basic Reading Skills II[2322]

＜授業のねらい及び具体的な達成目標＞

The aim of this course is to improve the students’ abilities to engage textual material that is written in English. The focus will be on developing the students’ aptitudes in contemplating texts so that they will be better prepared to form opinions, arguments and conclusions based on the content presented in the texts. To achieve these goals, attention will be given to nurturing the students’ abilities to infer meaning from texts and to utilize critical thinking techniques in the analysis process. Students will be expected to display their skills in the above techniques in English, both orally and in written form.

＜授業計画＞

テキスト９課から始め、前期からの流れを汲み英文構成をより深く学ぶ。後期は学んだスキルをさらにライティングなどに活かす作業も加えていく。

また、トピックセンテンスや序論・本論・結論といったスキルを用いない物語文なども比較対象としてとりあげ、より幅広い種類の英文に触れる機会も徐々に増やしていく予定。
