○Basic Reading Skills I[2320]

＜授業のねらい及び具体的な達成目標＞

The aim of this course is to improve the students’ general reading abilities in English. The focus will be on developing basic comprehension skills: identifying topics, supporting ideas and conclusions. In order to achieve this, the structural formations of short readings will be analyzed. Attention will be given to enhancing the students’ scanning techniques to identify key points and to increasing the students’ reading speeds. Students will be expected to display their skills in the above techniques in English, both orally and in written form.

＜授業計画＞

　クラスは、基本的にテキストの各エッセイを読んで、それに付随するExercisesで内容把握と要約の練習をし、For Study では英語表現に不可欠な構文や慣用表現を学ぶ。その範囲は Unit 1“Money”から Unit 11“Pasteurization”までとする。

＜成績評価方法及び水準＞

　原則として、前期・後期の試験６０パーセント、平常点４０パーセントを基準として、成績評価をする。平常点は、予習、クラスにおけるparticipation、小テスト、によって判断する。
