○Basic Reading Skills I[2319]

＜授業のねらい及び具体的な達成目標＞

The aim of this course is to improve the students’ general reading abilities in English. The focus will be on developing basic comprehension skills: identifying topics, supporting ideas and conclusions. In order to achieve this, the structural formations of short readings will be analyzed. Attention will be given to enhancing the students’ scanning techniques to identify key points and to increasing the students’ reading speeds. Students will be expected to display their skills in the above techniques in English, both orally and in written form.

＜授業計画＞

シンプルに、そして基本にのっとって書かれた長文を読みながら英文の構成を学んでゆく。読むだけでなく、後々ライティングやスピーチに繋がることを意識して取り組む。

前期はテキスト第８課まで読み進め、英文構成の基礎を学ぶ。適宜補助プリントを用いて必要なスキルを補う予定。
