○Basic Reading Skills I[4117]

＜授業のねらい及び具体的な達成目標＞

The aim of this course is to improve the students’ general reading abilities in English. The focus will be on developing basic comprehension skills: identifying topics, supporting ideas and conclusions. In order to achieve this, the structural formations of short readings will be analyzed. Attention will be given to enhancing the students’ scanning techniques to identify key points and to increasing the students’ reading speeds. Students will be expected to display their skills in the above techniques in English, both orally and in written form.

＜授業計画＞

This course will focus on improving your skills in reading, understanding and discussing English texts. We will move quickly each week through textbook readings and small group discussions. Bring your textbook to class every week and be prepared to read, interact, and discuss issues and topics.
