○Introduction to Communicative English II[3420]

＜授業のねらい及び具体的な達成目標＞

The aim of this course is to improve the students’ general knowledge and abilities to use English across the four skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. While there will be some reading (primarily for modeling language patterns and for establishing the class’s general knowledge of a topic that will serve as discussion content) and writing (to reinforce grammatical formations and vocabulary), “Introduction to Communicative English I” will focus on developing the students’ oral/aural skills in the following areas: greetings and introductions, initial conversations, discerning basic information in everyday settings/survival English (dining, shopping, hotels, transportation settings, directions etc.).

＜授業計画＞

第１週の授業で前期試験の報告と分析を行う。また後期の授業の方針や classroom activity について具体的に説明する。トピック別に編集されたビデオおよびテープを使用しながら Listening の能力養成を図る。まずトピック・イントロダクションの英文でトピックの概要を掴み、また関連語句なども学習してビデオ・リスニングの準備をする。次にビデオとテープで目と耳からしっかりと内容把握を心がける。その後は Listening Exercises で理解度チェックをする。教員は解答を示しながら詳細な説明を行う。
　また時にはTOEICのリスニング・模擬テストなどやりながらTOEICになれる訓練も行う。

＜成績評価方法及び水準＞

通常の授業での発表、予習の度合い、期末試験、出席状況などを総合的に評価・判断する。Classroom activity が重要なので、前期・後期それぞれ３分の１以上の欠席者は期末試験資格を失うものとする。

まじめに予習・復習をやり、授業中の発表にも積極的に参加するよう期待する。辞典は毎回必ず持参すること。
