○Introduction to Communicative English I[3418]

＜授業のねらい及び具体的な達成目標＞

The aim of this course is to improve the students’ general knowledge and abilities to use English across the four skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. While there will be some reading (primarily for modeling language patterns and for establishing the class’s general knowledge of a topic that will serve as discussion content) and writing (to reinforce grammatical formations and vocabulary), “Introduction to Communicative English I” will focus on developing the students’ oral/aural skills in the following areas: greetings and introductions, initial conversations, discerning basic information in everyday settings/survival English (dining, shopping, hotels, transportation settings, directions etc.).

＜成績評価方法及び水準＞

原則として、期末試験の成績を50％、ユニットごとの小テスト20%、授業への自発的参加度を30%の割合で評価を算出する。
なお、小テストの平均点が60%に満たない学生には、最終授業の際に課題を課し、その成績で小テストの不足を補う場合がある。

テクストのタイトルはEnglish Grammarですが、映画『ノッティングヒルの恋人』を題材に会話、リスニングをやります。必要に応じてシナリオをプリントして配り、演技をしてもらおうと思っています。声を出すのがコミュニケーションの第一歩です。積極的に参加してください。
