＜授業のねらい及び具体的な達成目標＞

英語で論文作成が出来るようになるための基本を学ぶ。英文の論文構造にかなった文章を書くための技術の習得を目指す。

＜授業計画＞

This course aims to have the students writing multi-paragraph essays by the end of the year. We will start with forming simple direct sentences that clearly communicate the ideas of the writer. From here paragraph structure and format will be worked on so that the students will be able to produce texts that are well organized and focused. Finally the students will move on to producing a variety of essays (descriptive, expository, narrative) that will allow them to communicate complex and detailed ideas in English. Grammer issues such as subject/verb agreement, coordinating conjunctions, conjunctive adverbs and other skills such as self and peer editing will be addressed in this class. The class will be primarily run in a workshop format.

Grades will be based on homework, papers, quizzes and class participation.

Hachioji Campus: Mondays 8:30-9:10
Shinjuku Campus: Wednesdays & Thursdays 11:30-12:45 and by appointment

The goal of this class is to improve your ability to write paragraphs and essays in English. Since this class will be given in English your ability to speak English and to understand spoken English will also improve. To do this your participation in the class is essential. As you are learners of English you are expected to make mistakes, so do not worry about making mistakes. You should focus on practicing your English. If you do this, your English will improve.
