○Basic Reading Skills II[3317]

＜授業のねらい及び具体的な達成目標＞

The aim of this course is to improve the students’ general reading abilities in English. The focus will be on developing basic comprehension skills: identifying topics, supporting ideas and conclusions. In order to achieve this, the structural formations of short readings will be analyzed. Attention will be given to enhancing the students’ scanning techniques to identify key points and to increasing the students’ reading speeds. Students will be expected to display their skills in the above techniques in English, both orally and in written form.

＜授業計画＞

主に英字新聞の記事などを使用して、時事問題を通して英語の読解力を強化する。
教科書で基本的なニュース記事の読み方を確認しながら、実際に最新の記事を読んでいき、内容を理解した上で、それについて自分の感想を述べる表現も学ぶ。

＜成績評価方法及び水準＞

授業での学習態度と課題を50％、定期試験の結果を50％として評価し、総合して60点以上を合格とする。
