○Basic Reading Skills I[3312]

＜授業のねらい及び具体的な達成目標＞

The aim of this course is to improve the students’ general reading abilities in English. The focus will be on developing basic comprehension skills: identifying topics, supporting ideas and conclusions. In order to achieve this, the structural formations of short readings will be analyzed. Attention will be given to enhancing the students’ scanning techniques to identify key points and to increasing the students’ reading speeds. Students will be expected to display their skills in the above techniques in English, both orally and in written form.

＜成績評価方法及び水準＞

原則として、期末試験の成績を50％、小テスト20%、授業への自発的参加度を20%、2回のReview Testの成績を10%の割合で評価を算出する。
なお、第３回以降毎回の小テスト・Review Testの平均点が60%に満たない学生には、最終授業の際に課題を課し、その成績で不足を補う場合がある。

＜学生へのメッセージ＞

使える英語を身につけるためには、「わかったつもり」になるのではなく、「わからない」を大事にしてください。いちいち立ち止まって考えるのは面倒ですが、それを繰り返すことで本当の英語力が培われるのです。
