○Introduction to Communicative English I[2209]

＜授業のねらい及び具体的な達成目標＞

The aim of this course is to improve the students’ general knowledge and abilities to use English across the four skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. While there will be some reading (primarily for modeling language patterns and for establishing the class’s general knowledge of a topic that will serve as discussion content) and writing (to reinforce grammatical formations and vocabulary), “Introduction to Communicative English I” will focus on developing the students’ oral/aural skills in the following areas: greetings and introductions, initial conversations, discerning basic information in everyday settings/survival English (dining, shopping, hotels, transportation settings, directions etc.).

＜授業計画＞

日常的な英語を、「聞く」「話す」ことを主眼に置き訓練していく。前期は休暇や病院、買い物や銀行といった状況別に、必要単語を増やしつつ聞き取りと簡単な会話を進めて行く。テキストで言えば題８課までを予定。

一回の授業では、単語テスト→リスニング＆発音クイズ→テキスト中心のヒアリング演習→テキストのテーマに合った会話練習がひとつのまとまりとなる。会話練習のためにテキスト以外の補助プリントも用いる予定。

＜成績評価方法及び水準＞

前期末のテスト及び平常点。テストには聞き取りと会話の両方が含まれる。
