○Basic Reading Skills I[3207]

＜授業のねらい及び具体的な達成目標＞

The aim of this course is to improve the students’ general reading abilities in English. The focus will be on developing basic comprehension skills: identifying topics, supporting ideas and conclusions. In order to achieve this, the structural formations of short readings will be analyzed. Attention will be given to enhancing the students’ scanning techniques to identify key points and to increasing the students’ reading speeds. Students will be expected to display their skills in the above techniques in English, both orally and in written form.

＜授業計画＞

テキストを毎回一課ずつ進めてゆく。
また、同時に英字新聞、雑誌、論文、エッセイ、小説を利用したプリントを配布し、
最新のニュースや、自然な英語の言い回し、英文の構造についても学び、語彙力の強化も図る。

毎回、辞書を必ず持参すること。

＜成績評価方法及び水準＞

平常の演習、小テスト、課題を５０％、期末試験を５０％として６０点以上を合格点とする。
ただし、６０点に僅かに満たない者については、課題レポートを与え、単位認定相当と認められる
場合には、最終成績を６０点とする。
