<授業のねらい及び具体的な達成目標>
The main aims of the course are primarily to develop listening and speaking skills and also reading and writing skills for use in international communication and study situations. The course is designed to provide the students with the ability to express themselves clearly and appropriately in international settings.

<授業計画>
Besides the textbook other materials used will include current news articles featuring issues of particular interest to Japanese learners. It is hoped that the articles will be both interesting and enjoyable and should serve to stimulate interest and awareness of current news topics both internationally and within Japan.
These articles will form the basis for comprehension activities both in the class and for homework assignments.
Developing proficiency in the four skills with emphasis on speaking and listening will be through integrated skills activities (activities requiring listening speaking reading and writing skills). Through working in pairs and groups it is hoped that students will be able to:
a) maximize the amount of language practice.
b) develop empathy and cooperation with each other in order to promote a
positive and enjoyable language learning environment.
c) connected to both a) and b) is the goal of making the students aware that they
can work with and learn from each other.

An additional goal is to enable students to improve their TOEIC Test score.

<成績評価方法及び水準>
In order to pass the course class attendance and completion of the homework assignments is required.
There will be end of semester written tests and oral interview tests.
Students who are absent for more than 4 classes each semester unless due to sickness or or some other valid reason will be failed.
